in the Lake District offer holiday cottages in the South Lakes area of
Cumbria. This is a beautiful corner of the world and more tranquil than
the hustle and bustle of the central Lakes yet still within easy reach.
We are situated just a few miles south of Windermere and not far from
the historic market town of Ulverston. There is lots to see and do in
the area should you wish; alternatively, our immediate grounds offer a
haven of relaxation.
We in the heart of the Lake District National Park which covers some 700
square miles of England's most stunning countryside.
Renouned for its lakes and mountains, the Lake District is home of both
England's largest lake (Windermere) and highest mountain (Scafell Pike
- 3,210 feet). Nearby Helvellyn is not far behind at 3,118 feet.
Other well known lakes in the area include Derwentwater, Ullswater, Coniston,
Thirlmere, Bassenthwaite Lake, Haweswater, Brotherswater and Buttermere,
each of which has its own unique character and charm.
Needless to say, with such stunning landscapes, the Lake District is popular
walking country. The outskirts of Cumbria such as Carlisle, the Eden Valley,
the west coast and, more locally, the Lake District Peninsulas are all
worthy of visits, offering a diverse range of scenery and local attractions.
It is therefore no wonder that the Lake District is England's most popular
tourist destination outside London!
